This class was the inspiration for the book Disciple-Making Simplified available on Amazon in paperback and e-book. Every believer is called to make disciples who go and make disciples. There is no need to be afraid of this call. If you are a follower of Jesus, you can help others take their next steps with Jesus. This course examines: Why Disciple? What is a Disciple? And How-to Disciple?
This class offers inspiration to be unashamed of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. We simplify the message of salvation as we pursue "the gospel in a nutshell." Once we know our target we learn to share our own salvation story and explore various methods of sharing our faith.
This material primarily covers the "Interpretation" aspect of Observation, Interpretation, and Application Bible study as outlined in Living by the Book by Howard Hendricks. These sessions use the book of Jude to explore the basics of Bible study and interpretation.
Using Biblical Preaching by Haddon Robinson as the text, this material offers an introduction to sermon preparation.
This seminar offers an introductory look at the spiritual gifts listed in Scripture. We take a limited list of gifts and begin to explore our interests, input from others in the body, and God's leading.
One of my favorite experiences as a Christian teacher is to see students' eyes open to the relevance of the Old Testament. This course examines each book of the Old Testament in its historical and biblical context.
I also enjoy delivering "A Race Through the Old Testament" in one or two-hour presentations.
I taught an extended Bible Survey on the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy at the Word of Life Bible Institute in the Philippines several years ago.
I enjoy the Old Testament but especially the Minor Prophets. I find the post-exilic prophets most relevant for our post-Christian culture. Haggai exhorts God's people to consider their priorities and make sure God is first. The book of Malachi offers a sad and somber warning about drifting far from God.
I begin this course material with a presentation of God's Word: The Truth to grow confidence in a biblical faith and worldview. This class also briefly examines the history of the silent years before looking at the biblical and historical context of each book of the New Testament.
This class examines the book of Romans from the English Bible. The book of Romans is about the gospel and offers rich insights into the doctrine of salvation. Not only is this book well developed in its theology but it is incredibly practical as well.
Ephesians is about the body of Christ, the Church, and provides a basic discipleship manual for Christian growth. This class examines the book of Ephesians in the English Bible.
Paul wrote these short letters to two very different young men in ministry. This class examines these books in the English Bible and draws principles and practical insights for youth in ministry.
Too many believers and even Christian leaders are intimidated by the book of Revelation in the English Bible. Others are over-confident that they have a 'special key' to unlock the book. This course takes the approach that the book is what it says it is: an unveiling of a powerful person, Jesus Christ. This material provides an overview of the interpretive approaches to the book and examines a futurist perspective on the book of Revelation. No one needs to be afraid. We need to read it, apply it and receive its promised blessing.
